HML was originally set up in 1991 to manage the property portfolio of LTC Holdings plc, but subsequently embarked on an expansion program in 2001, since when it has grown significantly, principally via acquisitions.

November 2003 Acquisition of 51 per cent. of the business of Dunlop Management Services
April 2004 Acquisition of remaining 49 per cent. of the business of Anderton & Son
June 2004 Acquisition of the business of Mandells Limited
November 2005 Acquisition of remaining 49 per cent. of the business of Dunlop Management Services
October 2005 Appointment of Robert Plumb as Chief Executive
January 2006 Appointment of James Howgego as Finance Director
March 2006 HLMH incorporated to become the new holding company for the HML Group
April 2006 Acquisition of Shaw & Company (Property Management) Limited
June 2006 Demerger of the HML Group from the LTC Group
July 2006 Admission to the AIM market of London Stock Exchange plc
August 2006 Dunlop Management Services merged into Shaw & Company (Property Management) Limited and renamed HML Shaw Limited
November 2006 Acquisition of London and Provincial Properties

The acquisitions to date have been structured geographically to create local property management operations hubs throughout the London and the South of England. The property management operations are supported by centralised building surveying (Shaw & Co (Surveyors) Limited), insurance broking (Alexander Bonhill Limited) practices/operations and concierge services (HML Concierge Services Limited)
The HML Group currently employs 168 staff.
